Freight companies cut 607 jobs across 4 states.

Layoffs continue across the commercial transportation and freight industry, as new worker reduction notices have been issued in Florida, Texas, Illinois, and Wisconsin. This marks the second round of layoffs since the beginning of July. Earlier this month, Averitt Express, Bath & Body Works Logistics Services, ShipBob, and Henry Avocado Corp. announced a total of 218 layoffs.

Menzies Aviation:
On July 17, Menzies Aviation announced it will eliminate 409 positions at its Miami International Airport facility due to the loss of a cargo handling services contract with Avianca Airlines. All positions tied to this contract will be terminated effective September 16, with the layoffs expected to be permanent. Menzies Aviation, an airline and aviation services company, is based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

DHL Supply Chain:
DHL Supply Chain will permanently close a logistics facility in Carrollton, Texas, resulting in 104 layoffs by September 14. The layoffs include 76 warehouse workers, three transportation workers, and various forklift operators, administrative staff, and supervisors. The closures are due to a customer transitioning to a new provider. DHL Supply Chain is a division of Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Post DHL and is assisting affected employees in finding positions at other facilities in the area.

RXO Last Mile:
RXO Last Mile is laying off 53 employees from two facilities in Houston. The layoffs, which will be finalized by September 16, are due to workforce reductions supporting a customer at these locations.

Cygnus Home Service:
Minnesota-based Cygnus Home Service LLC, doing business as Yelloh (formerly Schwan’s Home Delivery), is laying off a total of 29 employees in Illinois and Wisconsin. The layoffs include 27 workers in Mahomet, Georgetown, and Round Lake Beach, Illinois, and two workers in Fennimore and Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin. Last October, Yelloh announced the closure of 90 delivery centers across 18 states, affecting around 750 employees. Yelloh has about 4,000 employees and more than 300 centers nationwide.

Pitney Bowes:
Pitney Bowes Inc. is laying off 14 workers in Austin and Dallas due to corporate restructuring. The Stamford, Connecticut-based company, which provides global shipping, mailing, logistics, and financial services, recently developed plans to restructure operations at these facilities.
